Background:
Aenorestes and Concolitanus retreated northwards, pursued by the Consul Aemilius Papus with 4 Roman legions, the same number of allies, and remnants of the defeated Etrusco-Sabine army, for a total of perhaps 50,000 troops. Harassing their rear, Papus would not risk a pitched battle. At the same time however, Consul Gaius Attilius Regulus, had crossed from Sardinia with his army and was marching towards Rome along the same coastal road the Gauls were using in their retreat. His scouts met the Gauls' advanced foragers near Telamon. Learning of the approach of the Gallic army, Regulus deployed his legions and advanced with his cavalry and light infantry to occupy a key hill before the enemy arrived. The Gauls likewise sent their own cavalry, chariots, and light- armed troops to dispute possession of the hill. When Papus arrived from the south, he sent his cavalry in support of that of Regulus and deployed his own legions. At first the battle was confined to the hill and both armies watched the fighting unfold. Regulus fell, but the Roman cavalry, after a stubborn struggle, gained the hill. Now trapped between 2 Roman armies, Aneroestes and Concolitanus formed two battle lines back-to-back. The Gauls rushed at their enemy in rage, but the Romans held their ground. Their superior numbers and cavalry charging down the hill won the battle and the Gallic army was utterly destroyed.

The 2nd Roman army arrives on its table edge on turn 1 + the score of 1 average D6. This roll is not to be made known to the Gallic player(s). - Consul Aemilius Papus is deemed to have incorporated 1800 Etrusco-Sabine cavalry in his army.
