5. Ionian Revolt   1 unit = 500 HI or Sparbara, 250 LH,
  Pedasos - 496BC   333 LMI or Cv, 165 LI

Background
After their defeat at Marsyas, the warlike Caryans had an opportunity to lure the now overconfident Persians into ambush at night.

Game notes
All generals have been downgraded to 'Poor' status, as their commanding ability was greatly reduced due to the darkness. They retain a leader bonus of 1 over the unit they are attached to however. Generals can only command units, not groups.
The Persian army marches in the order listed below.

Historical result
Caryan victory. The Persians had lost heavily among their heavy infantry formations, and all the commanders were among the slain.
Despite this setback, Persian successes throughout the Ionian revolt had largely squashed the Greeks' will to fight by 495BC and field operations turned to mopping up the few centres of resistance that still held out, mainly the cities.
In the end, Darius was convinced that the heavy Greek hoplites were no match for his lighter troops and he began preparing for an invasion of Europe.
Miletos was sacked and the survivors were resettled deep in Persian territory.
